Go here for yearbook information. The recent news of a failed override for Webster may impact the Art Department. Information concerning those changes will become available soon.
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. This video helps to explain the way our brains process visual information. Our drawing students focus on drawing what they see, not what they know something should look like. When creating a realistic drawing, it is important for artists to follow the rules of perspective. Drawing from life is a challenge for many artists because you must translate something 3 dimensional onto a 2 dimensional surface. Students in drawing I created portraits that combine photo-realistic elements with surrealist imagery. We studied the work of Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali in preparation for this assignment. Students also took time to write a reflection about their experience with the drawing, as well as their thoughts about drawings completed by their peers.
